Creating Accessible Theater for All Audiences
Adaptive Arts is a 501(c)(3) theater company seeking to make theater more accessible to individuals with Autism.
As the cornerstone of our season, we adapt classic and contemporary theater pieces to become Autism-friendly, promoting an integrating audience of individuals with and without Autism. With our new works program, The Autism Initiative, we foster emerging works that raise awareness of the disorder. With our educational department, we lead in-school residencies at schools serving students with Autism, as well as training days for educators and artists seeking to work with that population.
The plays we chose, from emerging and published/award winning playwrights, address this disorder in diverse ways. Our works paint Autism in a new light for our audiences, in hopes that a greater understanding and acceptance of the disorder may be reached.
